We’re excited to announce Chyron Weather 2.4. The latest improvements ensure that Chyron’s weather suite for broadcasters and meteorologists offers the industry’s most robust and streamlined weather data management workflow.
Chyron Weather 2.4 is built around three priorities for modern weather operations: future-proof workflows, greater data flexibility, and trusted data quality.
It brings powerful open-source processing tools directly into DataFlow to simplify complex meteorological workflows, expands support for diverse data formats and timing conventions, and introduces smarter validation to help ensure the accuracy of every graphic that reaches air.

Chyron Weather now includes a managed framework of modern open-source tools directly within DataFlow. This streamlines workflows and keeps the platform flexible to support new tools over time, helping users stay aligned with current and future industry standards.
This new feature integrates key open-source tools directly into the DataFlow module, starting with Climate Data Operators (CDO), while future updates will add support for ImageMagick and FFmpeg for image and video conversion.
A built-in convenience layer provides users with a standardized way to interact with these tools, which enhances consistency. Moreover, centralized tool management helps ensure users work with the same versions and settings, especially valuable in hub-and-spoke workflows.

This release integrates third-party Climate Data Operators (CDO) into DataFlow, allowing users to process complex meteorological data directly in Chyron Weather (if not already natively supported). It also expands Time Referencing capabilities, making it easier to ingest data from providers that use different timing conventions.
CDO are now integrated directly into the DataFlow module. This allows users to process complex climate and meteorological data, such as GRIB and NetCDF files, directly from the same Weather platform.
Since the toolset is packaged and managed by Chyron, teams can reduce setup time and avoid manual installation. It also ensures consistency between systems running the same version, enabling users to transfer and reuse data flows. CDO can be accessed via the DataFlow convenience layer, while logs are managed alongside standard DataFlow processes for a more unified experience.
The extended time referencing capabilities provide more flexible file and folder pattern configuration to facilitate data ingestion from providers with inconsistent or non-standard naming conventions. Chyron Weather can identify available data, extract the relevant date and time information, and map it automatically to the standard weather timeline.
To ensure precise time handling, regular expressions can be applied across the full subdirectory path to extract model run information, as well as forecast dates and times. On top of that, time-referenced nodes can work with absolute time values and forecast offsets based on the detected model run.

Chyron Weather 2.4 introduces automated data checking and gating nodes in DataFlow, helping users validate incoming records. The new File Integrity Validator detects incomplete, corrupted, or invalid data early, guaranteeing that all inputs powering graphics are valid and accurate.
If a file doesn't meet quality standards (based on user-defined thresholds), this new feature can automatically trigger alerts and route it to quarantine.
Chyron Weather 2.4 is designed to help broadcasters move from data to air-ready weather storytelling with greater speed, flexibility, and confidence.
By streamlining workflows and supporting evolving industry standards, Weather 2.4 enables teams to respond faster, reduce operational friction, and deliver the trusted insights audiences depend on.
See how Chyron Weather 2.4 can help your team simplify complex data processing, adapt to evolving data requirements, and ensure the graphics you bring to air are powered by trusted information.
